Personal Finance Lessons From The ICU

Testimonials

First I read Personal Finance Lessons from the ICU. Well, first and foremost, I didn't exactly know that you had such a serious health issue and ICU experience. Like you wrote, you always seemed health conscious and fit. Happy that the lessons you learnt about taking care of one's health as well as finances, are shared by you with readers. Without actually going through similar situation, readers can become more responsible and act in time. So though it may sound autobiographical, you have readers' welfare as the objective in writing the book. This is indeed laudable and noble. Apart from all the sound advice given in very non patronizing language, the booklet is eminently enjoyable and well designed. You know how bulky books, with too much beating about the bush, can put readers off in today's times with short attention spans!

A couple of things I marked as especially useful, for me, from the book are: Page 47: Mistakes are ok. "There are skeletons in almost everyone's financial cupboard!" Page 59: "There is no alternative to professional help. Dr Google is not enough." Page 62: ability and integrity- required in financial advisor. So true, competence with character! And last but not the least, most important takeaways, for me:

Importance of making a will and having a nominee. Documenting and sharing with spouse/ family all details about assets and investments. So that in emergency, family can use them. Thanks for this wonderful primer in personal finance management.
