Do you know what happens when a highly respected financial market veteran gives you 50 gems of financial wisdom linked to 50 iconic Bollywood moments ?
You get a masterclass of ‘ infotainment ‘ called ‘Sabse Bada Rupaiya’ authored by our Financial ‘Hero’ Amit Trivedi. This book links the micro and macro aspects of personal finance with unforgettable scenes and dialogues from Bollywood movies.
This creates an indelible print on the mind of the readers. The author’s immense experience and profound knowledge is evident in the sharp and emphatic points stated in the easiest manner.
Dividing the book in 5 chapters classifying various aspects of Finance takes the reader on a comprehensive journey.
The light and lucid writing makes it a smooth read. Being an avid movie buff myself, I was amazed by some of the novel analogies and instances of Hindi movies linked efficiently to personal finance.
To cite a couple of instances, in point 12 – Film ‘ Judaai ‘ – the character of Paresh Rawal is a compulsive answer seeker who keeps asking questions, albeit with a humorous undertone in the movie. In the book the author has very smartly picked up this trait and linked it to the habit to be developed by investors who should keep asking questions on the financial product to the product seller about the pro’s and con’s before deciding on it.
One other poignant analogy is brought out in point 18 – Film ‘ Pink’ where the punchline monologue of ‘ No means No ‘ is said in the context of a woman’s protest against molestation in the film.In the book it has been referred as a firm decision by investors in saying a big ‘ No ‘ to wrong insurance policies, complicated investments and falling prey to spurious financial schemes.
There are many more such interesting instances in he book to relish.
To sum it up, I would say ‘Lage Raho, Amit Bhai’… Keep writing !
